Henry Parkes Centre

Client: Parkes Shire

Location: Parkes, NSW

Completed: 2010

Convergence has had a long relationship with the Parkes Shire in NSW, having initially been appointed to develop exhibits for the Parkes and District Historical Society’s collection. Following this initial commission we were asked to prepare a masterplan and development strategy for a new museum site which covers some 8 hectares and incorporates a large farm machinery exhibit and a recreation of Henry Parkes family home, Moat Cottage, from Parkes’ sister city in the UK.

The masterplan recommended a staged approach which included the relocation of the Visitor Information Centre to the site and the development of two new galleries and community facilities linked to the existing museum building. These works were completed in 2010, and the site was renamed the Henry Parkes Centre.
