Convergence developed three new exhibits for the ‘Hands on Energy’ exhibit for Hydro Tasmania in Hobart during 2005.

The exhibits included an interactive exhibit of the NEMCO control room where electricity demand and supply is managed by the Australian Energy Market Operator combining hydro, coal fired and wind generated electricity to meet consumer demand in the most efficient way. Visitors get to manage several scenarios, including one where bush fires threaten to shut down Melbourne’s electricity supply on a hot January day. Other exhibits looked at the generation of hydro electricity and solar power generation.
