Jezzine/Garaburra Interpretation Plan, Townsville

Convergence developed the visitor experience and interpretation plan for Jezzine Barracks and Kissing Point, a former defence site in Townsville.

The site covers some 18 hectares with a diverse landscape from seaside escarpments and hills to lower sand belt areas. The visitor experience on which interpretation has been developed is best described as a “multi focus distributed experience”. The interpretation is fully integrated across the architecture, landscape and wayfinding elements and covers the aboriginal heritage with stories from the Bindal and Wulgurukaba traditional owner groups as well as the military occupation of the site from the 1870’s until 2008.
