CSIRO Discovery Centre

Client: CSIRO

Location: Canberra, ACT

Completed: 2004 - 2015

Over more than a decade Convergence designed and developed a range of exhibits for CSIRO at its Discovery Centre in Canberra. Discovery is the main educational resource for the CSIRO. Convergence’s exhibits there cover a wide range of topics including Energy, Food, and Land.

Energy investigates the impact of current research in renewables, low emission transport, distributed energy and the way the new energy future for Australia will be developed.

Food explores food and healthy eating, food security and food technologies. A feature of the exhibit is the ‘Feed the Max’ interactive which allows visitors to feed ‘Max’ – a 1 meter high animated model.

The exhibit has proved very popular and effective in explaining that while some foods may look good for us some are not quite as good as they look!

Land illustrates the impact of traditional European farming practices on the Australian environment and presents contemporary alternatives for better soil and land care.

Convergence has also designed interpretation centres at CSIRO’s Parkes and Narrabri Radio Telescope facilities.
