Child and Family Services Legacy Centre

Client: Child and Family Services (CAFS)

Location: Ballarat, Vic

Completed: 2016

CAFS (Child and Family Services) has its genesis in the Ballarat District Orphan Asylum founded in 1865. As part of the institution’s 150 year celebrations Convergence was appointed to design and develop the CAFS Legacy Centre.

Using both traditional and contemporary multimedia display elements Convergence developed an elegant centre that allows CAFS to achieve its dual goals of connecting visitors to the organisation’s long heritage and service to the community while assisting those whom CAFS has served to understand their individual histories and the context of their individual experiences.

The Legacy Centre combines a museum with an archive and research centre, meeting room and sensitively placed interview rooms all located within the bluestone basement of the original CAFS building.
