Convergence were briefed by the City of Charters Towers to conceive a tourism experience which would not only help visitors to understand the wealth of Charters Towers history but also encourage longer stays and increased tourist spending in the town. Ghosts of Gold is the response. The story of Charters Towers is told through the stories of past citizens – the ghosts of today.
This innovative project is a town-wide experience comprising twilight theatre, performance, heritage interpretation, tourism information and an activated museum at the former Venus Battery.
