Andy Warhol’s Jewish Geniuses and Warhol Now

Convergence created the exhibition of Andy Warhol’s Jewish Geniuses around his famous portrait series of ten iconic 20th century Jewish figures. The exhibition, mounted in the Jewish Museum of Australia’s Loti Smorgon Gallery, created a series of rooms in which both Warhol’s selection process behind the Jewish geniuses and his creation of the ‘celebrity’ image were revealed.

  • The exhibition explores Warhol’s creation of the ‘celebrity’ image and his selection process behind his Jewish geniuses. It questions how Warhol depicted the public face of famous personalities, and how the images of those famous Jewish figures are received today.
