Client: Shire of Campaspe
Location: Echuca, VIC
Completed: 2013
The Port of Echuca Discovery Centre celebrates the age of the paddlesteamer and focuses on the time when Echuca was Australia’s busiest inland port. The historic Port of Echuca was the subject of a $16 million conservation and refurbishment program, including the construction and fitout of the new Discovery Centre, completed in December 2013.
Convergence was responsible for all new interpretation for the Centre and the site - curation, content development, interpretative, graphic and multimedia design, construction and nstallation. The project included enlivening of the historic sawmill, documentation of the post settlement history of the area and development of three major multimedia installations.
Interactive exhibits primarily focused on the paddlesteamers and the important cargoes they carried across the Murray Goulbourn River System from the 1860’s until the early twentieth century.
