Jenni Klempfner undertook the content leadership, briefing and management of the major redevelopment of one of Melbourne Museum’s main galleries to procure the 1200m2 exhibition on the history of Melbourne, whilst employed as a producer by Museum Victoria.

The $3.75 million refurbishment included the relocation of Phar Lap, one of Museum Victoria’s most loved objects, the inclusion of some 1200 additional objects, development of 30 pieces of audio-visual material and required the coordination and guidance of a team of up to 13 curators in addition to an external content advisory panel, designers, fabricators and contractors.

The result is a much awarded exhibition and accessible exhibition which tells the story of the history of Melbourne from multiple perspectives and through the voices of the city’s inhabitants over time.
