The brief for this study was to develop an innovative use for the heritage railway workshops in Newport Victoria. Dating from the 1800s the workshops represent a significant heritage assets for the state of Victoria. The plan envisaged a mixed use for the site which integrates residential, community and special interest group use of the site amalgamated with operational, interactive and traditional museum exhibits. The plan also predicted the capacity to link the site with the popular tourist destination of Williamstown using heritage transport equipment.
