Morpeth Heritage Walk

Client: Maitland City Council Location: Morpeth, NSW, Australia Completed: 2016
Convergence was invited by the Maitland Council to review the heritage walk for the historic town of Morpeth, NSW. The town’s original heritage interpretation had been created in the mid 2000’s and was in need of a major refresh to energise the town’s tourism offer. The key interpretative aim was to provide visitors with a sense of place rather than a description of heritage buildings. Convergence analysed opportunities to integrate heritage interpretation with place activation, identified Morpeth’s key heritage themes and worked with Council to develop an audio tour accessed via an app and a printed brochure. Enlivened interpretation was achieved through investigation of personal stories, place related facts and contemporary quotations from individual eyewitnesses.
